Messy Makers: Art & Science Lab
Messy Makers: Art & Science Lab is a hands-on enrichment class where science exploration and creative art come together! Students will investigate age-appropriate science concepts through experiments, observations, and sensory-rich activities and then connect what they are learning to creative, process-based art projects. Throughout the semester, students will explore topics from areas such as chemistry, physics, earth science, nature, color science, and material science. Activities may include experimenting with reactions, exploring the properties of different materials, investigating color mixing and movement, creating with natural materials, and discovering how scientific concepts can be used to make unique works of art. Students will be encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, observe results, experiment with different techniques, and talk about what they discover. The emphasis is on exploration and the creative process rather than making every student’s project look the same. And, as the name suggests, students should be ready to get a little messy!
Age Range: 5-9 years
Students outside the suggested age range are welcome to enroll at parent or guardian discretion if they feel the class is an appropriate fit for their child.
Location: Books on the Vine, 5208 W. Fairview Ave. Boise ID
Time: Thursdays, 2:00pm-3:00pm
Course Dates: September 10, 2026 - December 17, 2026
